2019 National Fossil Day
Creative Art & Story Competition on the Influence of CLIMATE in the Pleistocene!
It's that time of year -- as we get settled in with our new classrooms and students at the beginning of the school year. This means it's also time for the National Fossil Day Creative Art & Story Competition at the Dunn-Seiler Museum!
This year, the National Park Service's National Fossil Day logo features animals that went extinct (sloths), and others that survived (bats) the last Ice Age of the Pleistocene. We are inviting Mississippi's K-12 students to investigate the role of climate in whether a species survived the Ice Age, or didn't. Pleistocene animals of Mississippi can be represented in 2-D scenes or 3-D models, or students can write a creative story about Pleistocene life in our state.
The deadline for entries is October 11, 2019.
