Shahnewaz Hossain is a PhD student at Mississippi State University with an M.S. in Disaster Management and B.S. in Urban and Rural Planning. He has combined academic knowledge with professional experience to contribute to disaster resilience and human mobility research. His master's research explored coastal community resilience to hydro-meteorological disasters, while his undergraduate thesis focused on sustainable transportation. He previously worked with the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPIC) as a GIS analyst and with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), focusing on displacement mapping and climate vulnerability.
For Theme 2, Hossain is conducting an assessment of the Mississippi Delta communities' resilience capacity to climate change.
